Joel Kurth has been a decorated Michigan journalist for nearly 30 years. He is managing editor of Bridge Michigan, the state's preeminent source for nonprofit policy news, and is a former investigations editor and reporter for The Detroit News.

Work from him and his teams have won dozens of state and national awards and led to government reforms in Michigan, Detroit and Wayne County, as well as millions of dollars of improvements at the Detroit Medical Center following a surgical instrument scandal.

He is active fundraiser for the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation that benefits families affected by the rare genetic disorder. He lives in West Bloomfield with his wife and two children.
