Katja Thomakos is the Director of Development at Cranbrook Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Previously, she was Executive Director of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts Foundation; Managing Director of Water Works Theatre in Michigan; and Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

 

She holds a BA in Theatre and Anthropology from Michigan State University and an MA in Arts Administration from Eastern Michigan University. Katja is also a member of the Board for Pontiac’s Encore Theatre at the Flagstar Strand and is a former board member and VP of Communications for the NW Louisiana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

 

She currently serves as a Mentor and Member of the Ethics Committee for the AFP Greater Detroit Chapter. Katja enjoys volunteering through the Michigan State University “Arts and Letters Connect” program and has been a grant panelist for several years with the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC).
